Bass Player Zach Collier Joins Fast Track.
Fast Track has announced that Indiana’s Zach Collier has officially stepped into the role of full-time bass player for the band.
Followers of the band have seen Zach filling in the spot once filled by Ron Spears, whom they sadly lost this past year. While they were big shoes to fill, Zach has done a phenomenal job for the band on stage and in the studio according to reports from within the band.
Bluegrass fans may recognize Collier from his time playing bass with Volume Five and the Caleb Daugherty Band, but he’s been playing since he was just thirteen years old. He was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, and attributes his motivation to learn and excitement about music to the encouragement from his Dad and Grandpa.
As a young bass player, Zach’s musical influences included Kameron Keller, Jason Moore, and Aaron Ramsey, in addition to his Dad.
Fast Track’s line up now includes: Dale Perry on banjo; Steve Day on fiddle; Shayne Bartley on mandolin; Duane Sparks on guitar and Zach Collier on bass.
When we found out David was retiring, our first thought was that he deserved it and we were so happy for him. Our second thought? We aren’t ready. And so, Fast Track was born. From our three advancing members, Dale Perry, Steve Day and Ron Spears, we were privileged enough to add two more veteran grassers to our band family, with Shayne Bartley and Duane Sparks.
Sadly, our hearts have recently been broken at the loss of our dear friend and band mate, Ron Spears. He fought a long, hard fight and we know that he is keeping the Angel Band on it’s toes. We have been fortunate to gain acceptance from Zach Collier of our offer to remain with Fast Track full time, following his stint filling in for Ron and we are excited for everyone to get to know him and what a talented addition he is. We really enjoy playing music together and are focusing on original music arranged and performed in our own unique and traditional style. We look forward to seeing all of you on down the road and continuing to pick, grin and pick some more! Thank you so kindly for your support – Fast Track Band.
About Fast Track:
Fast Track is a band that formed following the retirement announcement of long time Cardinal Tradition band leader, David Parmley. Three of the four members decided to form the band and sought out to fill the remaining spots, mandolin and guitar, seeking instrumentalists who were also strong vocalists. Wow, did that ever work in their favor.
The five members of Fast Track are not only all highly decorated in awards from the IBMA and SPBGMA organizations, but are also veteran players on the Grand Ole Opry stage, across the United States, Canada, and throughout Europe. Between all of the gentlemen, they have performed with, recorded on and participated in countless projects with bluegrass and country music royalty throughout their most impressive careers.
The band has already successfully released two full-length albums with Engelhardt Music Group out of Nashville, Tennessee, and has completed a third studio recording expected later this year. It truly seems there is just no stopping once you jump on this Fast Track.
