World of Bluegrass 2022

World of Bluegrass 2022 Program Highlights:

Life And Leadership In Bluegrass With Dale Ann Bradley and C.J. Lewandowski

The 2022 IBMA World of Bluegrass Keynote will be a moderated conversation with two brilliant, era-influencing musicians. Craig Havighurst, host of The String on WMOT in Nashville, sits down with award-winning legend Dale Ann Bradley and The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys co-founder C.J. Lewandowski for a discussion about their devotion to the music.

On the agenda of Life And Leadership In Bluegrass:

The industry in recovery after a national crisis, early inspirations and important career choices, wisdom for and from the road, the journey of women in bluegrass and today’s frontiers of inclusion, the vitality of traditional bluegrass 75 years after the founding, instrument collecting, and whatever comes up.

Spotlight Session:

Celebrate with the newly inducted Hall of Fame members Friday morning at the Hall of Fame Spotlight Session featuring Peter Rowan and Joe Mullins moderated by Chris Joslin, Executive Director of the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum located in Owensboro, KY.

Peter Rowan, Norman Blake, and Paul “Moon” Mullins have each had a tremendous impact on bluegrass music, and this is an opportunity to learn more about their respective journeys in an informal, interactive setting.

IMBA International Band Performance by Curly Strings

The first recipient of the IBMA International Band Performance Grant – Curly Strings from Estonia will be featured as a part this year’s IBMA World of Bluegrass in Raleigh.

Curly Strings is an acoustic four-piece band that draws its inspiration from their own personal heritage and the current Estonian cultural space. The band’s rise in the Estonian music scene was a phenomenon unlike any other: a folk music artist became mainstream by collecting national music awards and being the top seller in music stores for more than a year.

Curly Strings will be performing throughout the week during the Ramble showcase, late night events, and the street festival. Don’t miss them.

Business Conference Sponsor D’Addario:

D’Addario is a manufacturer of musical instrument strings and accessories, primarily for guitars but also other fretted and orchestral instruments. The company currently has its world headquarters in Farmingdale, Long Island, New York and its European headquarters in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. There are other offices around the globe including in Brooklyn, New York, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Australia and China.

D’Addario is a family-owned and operated business that is one of the largest string manufacturers in the world, not only producing several lines of strings under their own brand names, but also making OEM strings for other musical instrument companies.

D’Addario is committed to sustainability. Like the incredible artists and musicians they support, they know that our future, our children’s future, and the future of our planet are dependent on us doing what we can to leave this world in better shape than when we found it. That’s why they continue to engineer sustainable manufacturing processes and replenish the environment — in any and every way possible.

D’Addario partnered with TerraCycle to launch Playback, an industry-wide string recycling program with a mission to turn waste into worth. With Playback, they make it simple for players to recycle their strings — by allowing them to simply send them back to the company. So far, over 5 million strings have been recycled through Playback’s efforts.
