Wayne Sagmeon Banjo, 2008

by | 1 Jun, 2017

This banjo was made for me by Wayne Sagmoen of Minneapolis. It has a 12” rim, 1/4″ brass tone ring and Schaller tuners. It has a hard shell case.

The banjo is a copy of one Wayne made for Adam Hurt who wrote that Wayne: “based his rim design on the rare, innovative 1850s James Ashborn banjos featuring a wooden bracket band around the outside of the rim to eliminate the need for bracket shoes as well as the requisite drilling of holes through the rim in order to attach the brackets”.

The banjo can be heard on several of Adam Hurt’s CD’s including tunes from his ‘Insight’ CD: Garfield’s Blackberry Blossom (see below), Camp Chase, and Sally Ann.

My progressive arthritis is the only reason I’m selling this and other instruments. Please phone if you have any questions. I’m in Melbourne/Daylesford so can probably arrange for you to play it if you’re nearby.

The price is $2,000 AUD
