Walmart To Close Digital Music Store

by | 12 Aug, 2011

News just in this week from the USA is that American retail giant Walmart will close its online digital music store Walmart MP3 Downloads at the end of August. The company advises that this will not affect the sales of online discs or of their music promotion site, Walmart Soundcheck.

Wal-Mart has been selling digital music since 2003 as a competitor to the emerging  giant, Apple’s iTunes. However, Walmart now faces some strong competition as both Amazon.com and  iTunes have become the largest digital music seller.

Walmart will continue to provide support to those customers who previously purchased digital music through Walmart Music Downloads.
