The Orphanage Update – Sydney

by | 8 Aug, 2009

n WatersIn February this year we brought you news of the new Sydney venue, The Orphanage. Their latest release alerts us to a couple of happenings scheduled for the Parramatta next two months.

In August the all girl, folk powerhouse Racz ‘n Waters take to the stage at The Orphanage Sessions. The band features Karen Ann Waters and Tahlia and Ingrid Racz.

Hailing from the central coast with their own cheeky brand of girl power folk, Racz ‘n Waters will appear alongside Orphanage Session founders – The Orphans. Driving the blunt force of the band Racz ‘n Waters with her punchy guitar rhythms is Karen Anne Waters (Brassy Brunette) who combines with Ingrid Racz ( Blossoming Blonde) – the mistress of percussion with her Djembe and Irish Bodhran – and sister Tahlia Racz (Raunchy Redhead) who twangs the merry mandolin with sprinkles of fire. Together they storm the stage with fierce harmonies, cheeky lyrics and a whole lot of girl power.

Their unique brand of country meets folk is soon to be released on their debut album and was lovingly captured by Karl Broadie in the producers chair. In September the Orphanage Session will feature Melbourne alt-country band The Wildes as guests instead of Heather Mandich as previously advertised.

Racz ‘n Waters appear with The Orphans at The Orphanage Session at 8.30pm on Saturday 15th August at the The sessions run upstairs at the Mars Hill Café on Church Street in Parramatta. Tickets are available at the door for $10.
