An Australian family band, Brisbane-based family The O’Donnells are excited to announce the release of their debut, self-titled CD. Part of the new generation of bluegrass in Australia, The O’Donnells bring a fresh approach to the Australian country music scene with their strong family vocal harmonies and high energy traditional acoustic music. Their debut album includes a range of original and classic bluegrass, gospel and country tracks.

After venturing into the Qld country music festival arena, The O’Donnells won the 2009 QLD Country Music Festivals Champion of Champions Award in the Overall Senior and Open Group sections.

The band comprises John and Wendy O’Donnell, together with their three children, Johnny, Jacqui and Katelyn. John and Wendy met in the US in the mid 80’s. Married and settled in John’s home town of Cairns, they were founding members of the showband, Snake Gully Ensemble. After moving to Brisbane in early ’91, they played around the local bluegrass scene with the Sunshine Mountain Bluegrass Band. With that lineup, they played in Tamworth, Gympie Muster and Redlands Bluegrass Festival. As their children grew, they were added to the band, now known as The O’Donnells.

On the album, The O’Donnells are supported by some of Australia’s top country artists, including Brendan Radford, Hugh Curtis, Michel Rose, Doug Gallacher and Breen Schipke.

The CD was produced by Brendan Radford and John O’Donnell, the album was mastered by Jeff McCormack and is available from their web site: www.odonnells.com.au.
