When Brink Brinkman pitched this song to me, which he and David Stewart had written, I thought they had written an autobiography of my life, or the life of most Christians. The song tells of the ups and downs of this life and how we take most things for granted but through it all, the words of the song tell how good the Lord is to all His children. I feel this song is fit for every believer’s life, with my favorite line of the song being ‘now I’m looking up, down on my knees.’ We love the message in the song and hope everyone enjoys it as much as we do – Randy Spencer.
To coincide with the single release, the South Carolina based band is also unveiling the official video for the track – below. It centers around The King James Boys unique approach, which combines traditional Bluegrass infused with Gospel influence. Upon its original release, the song received praise from critics alike.
(The Lord Has Sure Been Good To Me) it swings the spotlight onto one of the album’s abiding emotions, even in its darker moments – gratitude. The King James Boys convey that theme with a light touch, conversational, and listeners are able to relate without straining to make a connection with the material.” Music Existence agreed by saying, “ This is one of the best of the best – Skope Magazine.
The new single is the follow-up to the multi-week No. 1 hit The Devils Not Afraid of a Dust Covered Bible, and second release Walk On Faith. The lead single went on to become The King James Boys’ first number one on the CDX Southern Gospel & Positive Country Chart, while also hitting the top spot on the Bluegrass Today Weekly Gospel Airplay Chart and Roots Music Report’s Bluegrass Gospel Song Chart.
The full Walk On Faith project includes 8 total recordings penned by songwriters like Rick Lang, David Stewart, Mark Brinkman, Brad Davis, David Ray Johnson and more. The group’s style was also praised by IndiePulse Music Magazine, who said “King James Boys possess wide-ranging musical instincts. You can hear it on a micro-level in each song passage; the band never goes on too long and tailors their words to serve the music and vice versa.” With a new year in full swing, The King James Boys are looking to make it another one to remember.
