The Miena Bluegrass Workshops and Jam is hosted by Southern Tasmanian Bluegrass and is all about getting together and sharing. If you’ve been hanging out for somewhere and someone to play along with, then Miena is a great opportunity.
You will find the group welcoming and supportive in a friendly space. Those who are more experienced happily share their knowledge, and there are basic entry-level workshops (subject to tutor availability) to help those who are either raw beginners and need a hand to get started or, having rusty skills from a lifetime ago, need to polish them up.
Please note that this event is for Bluegrass, Country and some Folk only, therefore instruments like percussion, drums, electric guitars and brass instruments are not suitable and will not be permitted. Bluegrass / string instruments only please. Harmonicas & electric bass are ok.
Find the Miena Central Highlands Community Centre here. Organisers would like us to pass this post on to other interested parties.
This is an ideal chance for people to meet and enjoy playing music and learning new skills. It is also a good chance to experience the Tasmanian high country and the community centre.
Traveling time to Miena is approx. 1 and a half hours from Hobart and Launceston.
There are two great places for accommodation and good food. If you want to stay the night. Motor-homes and campers will find this a great drive. There are many places of interest along the way, as well as being the premier place in the state for trout fishing.
