BBQ and Bluegrass Festival Fri 11th – Sat 12th Sep 2017.

Pickers in the Northern Rivers region of NSW have an opportunity to showcase their talents at the 2017 Pickers Competition as part of this year’s BBQ & Bluegrass Festival in Bangalow.

First Prize is $250 and entry is free to any of the four categories:

  • Banjo
  • Guitar
  • Mandolin
  • Fiddle

Of the four categories in the competition, banjo entries may consist of 5-string [three finger] or frailing style. The guitar will be played in standard tuning and flat-picked. The use of a guitar capo is acceptable.

Heats will be run in between band performances throughout the day of the festival with up to 3 contestants in each heat. The number of heats in each category is not limited.

Winners of each heat will progress into the finals, with final winners going into the Grand Final and consist of the winners of the finals for each category.

There will be four grand finalists in each of the categories. However, if the same contestant wins the final in more than one category, they must select their preferred instrument to enter the Grand Final with. The category/s they don’t select will see the runner-up in that final compete.
