Patty Loveless on Mountain Stage

by | 3 Jun, 2010

Originally from Kentucky, country singer Patty Loveless has been exploring her rich musical roots on two albums of classic country songs, Mountain Soul and Mountain Soul II.

Loveless and her band return to Mountain Stage to perform songs from Mountain Soul II, plus her well-known rendition of Darrell Scott’s mining anthem, You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive.

Originally about farming cotton, the song as played by Loveless address the coal industry, a topic close to Loveless’ heart, given that her father died of black lung at 58. She dedicates the song to her father, his friends and all the miners who continue to work very hard for their families.
