New Single From Mason Via, Oh Lordy Me
Mason Via has announced the release of his new single, Oh Lordy Me, today, ahead of his full album launch on April 25. Featuring the unmistakable talents of bluegrass legends Ronnie Bowman and Junior Sisk, this lively track blends traditional roots with a modern twist that is sure to make listeners tap their feet and sing along.
Mason describes the song as so much fun to play at live shows because everyone in the crowd will normally clap and sing along. In the studio, he and his collaborators created the perfect party track, fuelled by moonshine and a spirit of joy.
We had a blast hollering out the gang vocals and capturing that real deal fiddlers convention festival feel. It’s like you’re sitting in on a jam session around the soup kitchen in Galax, VA, with the sounds of the Blue Ridge Mountains surrounding you – Mason Via.
Written by Mason Via and fellow North Carolinian Brooks Forsyth, Oh Lordy Me is a heartfelt tribute to their shared love for the Blue Ridge Mountains and their simple Southern upbringing. The song highlights the beauty of nature and the importance of appreciating the earth, offering a subtle yet powerful message about avoiding the lure of excessive wealth and instead focusing on what truly matters.
This song is my secret protest song in the set. It calls for people to stop fighting, to come together in peace and harmony, and to recognize the importance of preserving the natural world – Mason Via.
A key element that makes Oh Lordy Me stand out is the participation of two of Mason’s all-time bluegrass heroes. Junior Sisk and Ronnie Bowman, two iconic names in bluegrass music, lend their voices to the track, singing two of the verses. Mason considers having them featured on a song on this, mostly genre-progressive, album really helped centre the needle and bring it back home for my traditional bluegrass fans.
The single’s release today is followed by a series of live performances, where Mason will continue to share the energy and spirit of Oh Lordy Me with fans across the country during the album tour.

Since Via’s original album release with Mountain Fever Records, New Horizons, he has taken the bluegrass and Americana scenes by storm. He was listed by NPR as one of the top 10 bluegrass artists thriving in modern Nashville.
In the past three years, he has been touring as the youngest member of Old Crow Medicine Show, guitar-picking, singing, and songwriting on their newest Grammy-nominated album, Jubilee.
