News From Girgarre

by | 6 Sep, 2010

The folks in Girgarre have asked us to post up a reminder that the next Jigarre Jammin’ is on Saturday, 25th September. The following month they are also planning a jam for seniors, to be held at the Echuca Council Chambers during the afternoon of 9th October during Senior’s Week.

These are the folk who for the past several months have been hosting regular jam sessions at the Girgarre Town Hall as a result of all of the workshops they have been running as part of the annual Girgarre Moozic Muster, an amazingly successful festival aimed at developing musical skills from around the region.

It’s is getting harder and harder to come up with the X factor since we have had 3 months of wonderful entertainment and advice from our Melbourne friends, so this month how about we do more jammin’ and try stretching ourselves? We now have a great core of established musicians among our numbers and some of those have shown skills in jammin’ technique, so it’s time for a bit of spontaneous jamming. It is encouraging for anyone to be playing along with different instruments and accompaniment. Of course we will always cater for the new beginners, so don’t be daunted by any changes to the program.

The Bush Dance was  a huge success, thanks go to Pot Belly Bush Band and especially to Jan and her team of helpers for the delish dinner and organisation. It was lovely to have Max back in the fold for the weekend.

Remember that October will be the last official Jigarre Jammin’, but anyone who wishes to continue meeting just for fun can still come along through the months of Nov, Dec, Jan. There will be no formal workshops or organisation – just purely people power. Happy playing –  see you all on 25th Di and the Fig Jammers.
