High Fidelity Releases – The Mighty Name of Jesus.
Rebel Records has shared High Fidelity’s first new music in three years. The Mighty Name of Jesus is the lead single off the band’s upcoming gospel album Music In My Soul, scheduled for release 15th September.
Written by fiddler Corrina Rose Logston Stephens, The Mighty Name of Jesus is an upbeat song celebrating the power of faith for healing and deliverance.
The Mighty Name of Jesus is an incredibly special song to me. It came to me at a time in my life when I was struggling with mysterious health issues, and all I had to get me through was my faith in the Lord. Early one morning, I woke up with it playing in my head like a recording. I knew I could easily fall right back asleep, and I actually started to, but I thought I better just grab my phone to record this. I was so sleepy that I actually forgot that it existed for a few days. When I finally remembered something about it and listened to the voice memo, I was a bit in shock. It was like listening to a song for the first time, only it was me singing it. I had gotten 3 verses and 2 distinct choruses that morning. As I wrote out the words, the fourth verse came to me, so I wrote it out, too. I could talk on and on about the amazing things with this song. I hope it is an incredible blessing to everyone who hears it – Corrina Rose Logston Stephens.
High Fidelity has long been known for interpreting classic era bluegrass and country music (Reno & Smiley, Jim & Jesse, The Louvin Brothers) through the fresh, young perspective of today’s generation. What makes “The MIghty Name of Jesus” stand out is that it is the very first original that High Fidelity has recorded to date.
Music In My Soul showcases the tight musical relationships formed in the band during their many years together as well as the musical versality of the group. In addition to writing, The Mighty Name of Jesus on which she shares vocal duties with her husband and guitar player Jeremy Stephens, Corrina Rose Logston Stephens plays fiddle and contributes vocals to many of the other songs on the album. They are joined by Kurt Stephenson on banjo and vocals, Daniel Amick on mandolin and vocals and Vickie Vaughn keeping time on bass and lending her soprano voice to a few numbers.
