More on Harrietville Relocation

by | 15 Mar, 2011

The recent announcement on the Harrietville location has seen organisers take the opportunity to re-visit Harrietville township and the Harrietville Community Hall Grounds.

We are advised that the convention has the  encouragement of The Alpine Shire, which was already aware of the announcement of the impending closure of the LaTrobe Beechworth campus.

Organisers believe that given local support, the most prudent action in the current uncertainty would be to return to the Harrietville Hall and grounds and continue the legacy and tradition established in that town over the  previous 22 years.

The committee regrets any inconvenience  that  might  occur as a result  of  this unanticipated need for another change of venue, and seek our continuing support in making the move back to Harrietville a successful one – BTCMS

The confirmed line up for the 2011 Convention is:

Fiddler Bobby Taylor, guitar and banjo player Andrew Dunlap with guitar player John Preston from West Virginia.

Joe Thrift on fiddle and John Riccio on banjo from the famous North Carolina ol’ time band The Red Hots.

The New Holland Honey Eaters have also been confirmed, bringing a brand new old time radio show gradually moving their historical journey a little further into the later 1930’s.

The dates for the convention are still 17th – 20th November 2011.
