Monroe's Mill
We were made aware of this band this week, who are to appear at the Alexandra Truck Ute and Rod Show in Victoria on 12th June 2011. The 2011 Alexandra Truck, Ute and Rod Show will be the fourteenth annual staging of the event and this year is destined to be one of the biggest, if not the largest held to date according to the event’s website.
Reading their website this band is always in demand. This group of fine musicians comes together to produce a musical treat.
Paul Wookey’s first class flat picking and Gold Guitar winning vocal, Jack Melbourne’s driving banjo, high lonesome voice and tasteful Dobro, Aron (Pig) McLean’s double bass, baritone vocal and bad jokes, Gold Guitar winning singer song-writer Pete Denahy’s tasteful ‘fiddlin’ and strong lead vocal combined with one of Australia’s finest mandolin players, Josh Grundy, makes for an entertaining experience that you will be wishing never ends.
The boys from “Monroe’s Mill” have all performed internationally and will soon be heading to Canada for several invitation only festivals. They have also been invited to appear at several leading Bluegrass and Folk festivals including Woodford, Port Fairy, Harrietville, and Yackandandah, while another Asian tour is also planned taking in the acclaimed Spring Scream Festival in Taiwan and the Full Moon Festival in Thailand.
What you get with “Monroe’s Mill” are 5 guys that share a love for, bluegrass music, entertaining, laughter and a combination of standards, originals and interesting blue-grassed covers that will keep you pondering on what they might come up with next.
