Mama Said String Band Releases New Album – Seasons of Change

The award-winning Mama Said String Band, known for their unique brand of grassroots and honest lyricism, has today released their new 12-track album, Seasons of Change. The album is available at all major outlets.

Based out of Louisville, Kentucky, Mama Said String Band is a four-piece collection of songwriters and players with David O’Neal on vocals and strings; Katie “Didit” Caudill on vocals and upright bass; Kaitlen Farmer on vocals and guitar; and Kris Potts on vocals and mandolin.

Guest artists on the new album guests include Jonathan Goodwin on piano on three tracks, Chris Cupp on cello on three, and Logan Henry on pedal steel on one. Each member brings a unique perspective with backgrounds spanning multiple cultures, genres, and styles. Together they draw influences from Bluegrass, Folk, and Americana while focusing on vocal harmonies and contemporary instrumentation to build an eclectic, eurythmic melody and tactfully delivered message as evidenced on this album.

Seasons of Change was recorded at Darkhorse Recording in Franklin, Tennessee, and at Good1 Productions in Lexington, Kentucky. “It’s rare these days to find a syndicate so musically bizarre yet dreamy and whimsical. All four members of MSSB are ingenious freaks and prodigies in their own right,” said album producer Jonathan Goodwin. “Every alluring lyric and thought-filled melody came straight from inventiveness within the group. From the first note to the final reprise that bookends this project, their cinematic sounds seem to make time stand still. Ready to ride? Listen to this album from start to finish. Thank me later”

During their time together, Mama Said String Band has become an instant classic, made a notable impact in the Bluegrass state, grown a large fan base, and received numerous awards and nominations, such as winning Lexington Music Awards for Bluegrass Artist of the Year and Album of the Year Awards along with the Appalachian Arts and Entertainment Bluegrass Band of the Year Award.

The band will celebrate their new album with several upcoming Kentucky shows, including May 19 at Zanzabar in Louisville, May 20 at The Burl in Lexington, May 21 at The Southgate House Revival in Newport, and May 28 at Olekia Temple Great Lawn in Lexington. On June 2, Mama Said String Band will perform at the Americana Bean Jamboree in Morgantown, IN.
