Redland Bluegrass Boys
The Redlands Bluegrass Boys hail from the Redland Shire just south of Brisbane. Collectively the band can claim about 200 years of music experience. Together they perform a range of traditional bluegrass songs and instrumentals, demonstrating tight vocal harmonies and driving instrumentals epitomised by the bluegrass style of music. The band features Allen McMonagle on guitar and fiddle, Bill Turner on guitar, Tom Steginga on double bass, Fred Hudson on banjo, and Neil Wills on mandolin.
Hillbilly Potentates
All the way from the USA, the Madass Folk Club welcomes The Hillbilly Potentates have an incredible ability to leave their audiences always wanting more. Their repertoire consists of the most exciting styles of American Roots music. They play songs that range from Civil War fiddle tunes, to present day favorites, and every thing in between. In the course of an evening you will hear blistering fast Bluegrass instrumentals, great vocal harmonies, Western Swing that will have even those cursed with two left feet, out on the dance floor, love songs that will have couples making “moon eyes” at each other, ballads, both happy and sad, covering broken hearts, hobos, hard drinking, prison, love, and topics to numerous to mention, wailing harmonica and great slide guitar on Delta Blues, bouncy Swing tunes from the 1930’s, classic Country & Western from the 1940’s & 1950’S, acoustic rock & folk from 1960’s to the present.
