Lou Reid and Carolina – My Own Set of Rules
My Own Set of Rules is a bold statement and also the new album title by Bluegrass veteran Lou Reid and his group Carolina. Often called the most recognizable voice in Bluegrass Music, Lou Reid splits his time between two very well respected groups, The Seldom Scene and Lou Reid & Carolina, previous winner of the IBMA Emerging Artist of the Year (1994).
This new album is riding high on the heels of Lou Reid & Carolina’s previous hit album, Time. The title track reigned the #1 single on Bluegrass Unlimited’s Top 30 Single Chart for 3 months in a row with the album reaching as high as #2 on the Bluegrass Unlimited’s Top 15 Album Chart. The band celebrated this #1 milestone with a performance on the Grand Ole Opry. The first single from the new 13 song album My Own Set of Rules is a very strong radio friendly single titled Amanda Lynn which is sure to also find its way to the top of the Bluegrass charts and certainly please their fans.
My Own Set of Rules is his 8th album in 17 years and the most personally rewarding album for him to date which completely captures his musical taste. Amanda Lynn
I believe, as a whole, that this project encompasses more of my personal musical taste than any recording I have put out to date. The songs bring in all the elements of bluegrass that I love; the contemporary, traditional and the gospel – Lou Reid
