Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen Release Looking Past You.

Looking Past YouFrank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen, two-time Grammy nominees and two-time IBMA Instrumental Group of the Year winners, release their debut single Looking Past You, on Turnberry Records.

Looking Past You, written by Pat Flynn and originally recorded by New Grass Revival, is the first single from the band’s forthcoming album and is available now to radio via Get It Played.

Some songs find you early and never quite let go. Looking Past You is one of those songs for Frank Solivan. A Pat Flynn gem he first heard New Grass Revival perform live and a hook so undeniable it stayed with him for decades until the moment finally felt right to make it his own.

That hook is so damn catchy it never left me. I’ve been wanting to cut this one for years and we finally did. Man, it felt right – Frank Solivan.

The band recorded live, in one room, together. Natural mic bleed, room energy, and all the electricity of a live performance captured on tape. The track features Frank Solivan on lead vocals and mandolin, Mike Munford on banjo, Jack Dunlap on guitar and low harmonies, and Cody Brown on upright bass. Former band member and longtime musical friend Jeremy Middleton returned to the studio to add additional harmony vocals. It’s a reunion that adds yet another layer of heart to the recording.

New Grass Revival members reflect on Looking Past You:

A lovely surprise to hear a great version of Pat Flynn’s New Grass Revival standard, filtered and inhabited by these talented musicians –  Bela Fleck.

I’m honored that you guys chose to record it, but even more so that you killed on it. No bigger compliment than that the next generation would want to put their brand on a song of mine – Pat Flynn, songwriter.

What a treasure and what a thrill it is to hear them on this recording of one of my favorite Pat Flynn/NGR songs. And, they’re off Ladies & Gentlemen, prepare the Checkered Flag – John Cowan.

Tight and right! Having not heard that song for a long while, brings back some good musical memories. Way to go – Sam Bush

Looking Past You offers the first glimpse of Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen’s forthcoming Turnberry Records album, blending the band’s trademark virtuosity and high-energy musicianship with a deep appreciation for one of the most influential groups in modern bluegrass. Looking Past You is now available on all digital music platforms now.

Looking Past You credits include Frank Solivan on lead vocal and mandolin, Mike Munford on 5-string banjo, Jack Dunlap on guitar and harmony vocal, Cody Brown on upright bass and Jeremy Middleton on harmony vocal.

About Frank Solivan & Ditry Kitchen:

Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen

Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen is a powerhouse in modern American roots music – where tight, high-lonely harmonies meet dance-hall energy and world-class instrumental drive. Fronted by guitarist, singer, and songwriter Frank Solivan, the group has built a reputation for turning traditional sounds into something immediate: bold melodies, crisp arrangements, and performances that feel both polished and alive. Solivan’s musical voice leans into the emotional core of bluegrass and Appalachian styles – yet the band’s sound expands beyond that foundation with contemporary bite, rhythmic momentum, and fearless ensemble playing.

The band took out the IBMA Instrumental Group of The Year Award back in 2016. The group also played Mountaingrass that following year.

Dirty Kitchen is known for its chemistry. Each member brings a distinct instrumental identity, and together they create a band sound that’s greater than the sum of its parts, alternating between smooth, vocal-forward passages and bursts of instrumental intensity. The group’s harmonies are a signature: close, blended, and dramatic, often soaring over driving rhythm or stacking into rich, church-like textures. Underneath, the band’s musicianship keeps things moving, tight time, tasteful breaks, and solos that feel crafted rather than merely technical.

At the center of the project is Solivan’s leadership. He writes and arranges with a clear sense of story, songs that can be playful one moment and reflective the next, all with the grit and warmth that roots music demands. Live, Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen balance virtuosity with accessibility, inviting longtime bluegrass fans and newcomers alike into a shared groove. Whether they’re performing an original tune or reimagining a classic, the band keeps the audience focused on what matters: melody, momentum, and emotion.

Over the years, the group has become synonymous with high-calibre collaboration; music that respects tradition while pushing the genre forward. Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen don’t just play bluegrass; they build a full, modern soundscape from it. It’s that combination, community, craft, and charisma that makes their music travel, stick, and keep calling listeners back.
