jeanettewilliamsBlue Circle Records advises that Jeanette Williams, multi-award winning vocalist and songwriter and one of the most respected female voices in bluegrass music, was honored Sunday with the 2009 SPBGMA Female Vocalist of the Year Award (Traditional category). The award was given during the 35th Annual SPBGMA Bluegrass Music Awards held at the Sheraton Music City Hotel in Nashville.

This award adds to Jeanette’s numerous Awards and Honors including her original song Enough of You, which received the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest Award in the bluegrass division at Merlefest; the IBMA Recorded Event of the Year Award for her work on Back to the Well by the Daughters of Bluegrass; and numerous awards and recognitions from the Virginia Folk Music Association.

Dixie Hall was in attendance saying, Tom T. and I are so very proud of Jeanette’s Traditional Female Vocalist win at SPBGMA. We have loved her and Johnny for years. The sweetness tripled with the realization that she is on our Blue Circle Records with her successful ‘Thank You For Caring’ project and is proud to be a ‘Daughter of Bluegrass’ on the new ‘Bluegrass Bouquet’. One of the most touching moments I have experienced was when, as Jeanette stood holding her award, Dale Ann Bradley came flying through the lobby, arms outstretched, to grab and hug her fellow Daughter, tears of joy streaming down both faces a genuine expression of love.
