Jane Germain and Ian Simpson – Duo Awards

by | 21 Jan, 2010 | 3 comments

Sharon Winter from the Boyup Brook Country Music Club has advised that Jane Germain and Ian Simpson have taken out the The Western Australian Country Music Open Group/Duo Awards for 2010.

Jane Germain is an Australian songwriter by birth, and Chinese by heritage. Her songs are about feelings old and new – her music is inventively rhythmic as it is melodic. Her latest compositions emphasize free, brushstroke-like improvisations, which have been inspired by her recent experiences with other cultures and musicians and her life in China.

Accompanying Jane is Ian Simpson, winner of 6 Golden Guitars, an Aria Award with the band the Flying Emus, and is also 3 times Australian National Banjo Champion.

Ian has recorded and toured with many leading Australian artists – such as the legendary Slim Dusty, Paul Kelly and Keith Urban.

Jane Germain & Ian Simpson were nominated for the 2009 WAMI Best Country Music Act and have been invited to perform at the Beijing Music Festival in 2010.

The 25th Boyup Brook Country Music Festival will be held in Boyup Brook WA from the 18th to the 21st February, 2010.

You are thinking of Roger Simpson who makes Eucalypt Banjos. Roger lives and works from Mt Nebo outside Brisbane in the state of Queensland. Ian lives in Perth which is in Western Australia.
