International Band Performance Grant Through IBMA

Bluegrass music has expanded tremendously within the the United States and beyond. Today, there are bands on stages all over the world. In 2022, through the generous matching donation from Paul and Alys Schiminger, the IBMA established the International Band Performance Grant Program to assist international bands in attending the IBMA World of Bluegrass, develop bluegrass events and audiences globally, and help increase opportunities for everyone involved in the music.

Based upon the phenomenal success of the 2022 grant recipient, Curly Strings form Estonia, at the recent IBMA World of Bluegrass in Raleigh, the band is set to tour 2023.

Curly StringsApplications for 2023 grant will open this month; however, the cost of providing impactful grants annually to help international artists attend IBMA World of Bluegrass® and perform in the U.S. is significant. Therefore, IBMA need to raise enough money to sustain the program for years to come. You could consider donating this month in order to maximise this year’s matching program. With your help, IBMA can fund this important program to further the worldwide development of professionals and the reach of bluegrass music.

The IBMA International Band Steering Committee chooses the annual grant recipient from among international bands selected to be official IBMA World of Bluegrass showcase artists. Grants will help defray the costs of obtaining visas, traveling to the U.S. for showcase performances, additional professional opportunities at the IBMA Business Conference and participating in a short U.S. tour for one band.

Please consider your support for this great music and support the “I” in IBMA.
