Harrietville 2012

by | 14 Apr, 2012

The 24th Harrietville National Bluegrass & Traditional Country Music Convention will take place on 15-18 November 2012. The organisers invite you to enjoy four nights and three days of acoustic bluegrass and old-time country music. The Convention is held in the Harrietville Community Hall and grounds in the picturesque town of Harrietville in Victoria with beautiful views of the mountains during the day and the stars at night.

The great Audie Blaylock and Redline are returning as the USA bluegrass guests this year. Old-time guests are Adam Hurt (clawhammer banjo , Beth Hartness (guitar) & Stephanie Coleman (fiddle), a trio of fantastic young old-time musicians.

Hear the USA Guest Acts and top Australian bands in concert. Participate in beginners to advanced workshops presented by the visiting guests. Join in the open mic concerts and informal jamming sessions on site over the weekend. Visit the instrument makers’ displays and stalls. Visit the CD shop and get your copy of CDs of your favourite bands at the Convention. Experience the friendly and welcoming atmosphere, mingle and meet with the musicians and, if you’re new to the music, have fun in the structured jam sessions designed especially for beginners and less experienced players.

Quality meals prepared on site in The Hub, where you can also watch lunch and dinner concerts and enjoy a drink from the bar.

A community concert is held on Thursday night followed by a traditional mountain square dance, both featuring our overseas guests. The concert is $20 at the gate, or included with a pre-paid weekend pass. Substantial discounts on weekend tickets for members of the Bluegrass & Traditional Country Music Society of Australia http://www.bluegrassoldtimeaustralia.org
