Last year, Rural Rhythm Records released a special live album called The All-Star Jam – Live at Graves Mountain. This release celebrated the label’s 55th anniversary.  This one of a kind special recorded event took place at the Graves Mountain Festival of Music in Syria, Virginia with Mark Newton serving as Producer and Production Coordinator, along with Sam Passamano, Jr. as Executive Producer.
The album includes the incredible talents of:  Lonesome River Band, Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out, Audie Blaylock &  Redline, Lou Reid and Carolina, Carrie Hassler, The Crowe Brothers; with special guests Mark Newton, Carl Jackson, Brand New Strings, and marvelously emceed by popular Sirius-XM radio personality Kyle Cantrell.

The All-Star Jam – Live at Graves Mountain currently has two songs moving up the charts including: Graves Mountain Memories written by Carl Jackson, who also performed on the song along with Russell Moore, Lou Reid, Audie Blaylock, Carrie Hassler, Mark Newton, Sammy Shelor, Wayne Benson, Mike Hartgrove, and Mike Anglin. The other song is Head Over Heels by Carrie Hassler, Brandon Rickman and Brand New Strings.

Fans of the album and the Graves Mountain Festival of Music will enjoy this month’s issue of Bluegrass Music Profiles – Bluegrass Festival section that includes an interview with Jim Graves, the owner of Graves Mountain, along with special comments by Lou Reid, Russell Moore, Audie Blaylock, Sam Passamano, and Mark Newton.  Fans will also want to check out the May 27, 2011 edition of The Daily Progress (Charlottesville, VA) in the Lifestyles section that will feature the album and festival.

The Graves Mountain Festival of Music kicks off June 2, 2011 and will give attendees a chance to purchase this album at the very place it was recorded.  There will be numerous locations set up during the festival where everyone can meet n’ greet with Mark Newton, Lonesome River Band, Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out, and also Lou Reid who will be performing with the Seldom Scene.  One of the festival MCs, Rusty Cempre, will feature an interview with Mark Newton this Sunday, May 29th on WNRN Radio (Charlottesville, VA) Bluegrass Sunday Morning from 7:00 am to 11:00 EST.

The All-Star Jam – Live at Graves Mountain captures this special live event with an All-Star ensemble featuring one-of-a-kind performances never before heard live or in the studio.  While the label has released numerous videos from this special event, they will also soon announce details of a full-length DVD.

    Peter Hisco and myself are about to leave for a month in the States and first stop is the Graves Mountain Festival….. very excited, great line-up….particularly looking forward to seeing Rhonda Vincent and the Quebe Sisters….. then heading onto the Clinch Mountain Festival for some old timey before heading to a week’s study at the Kaufman Kamp. I’m hoping my guitar picking is going to leap to the next level!!! And bring home some ideas for the Kelly Country Music Camp! We have tickets to see Ricky Skaggs in Lexington Kentucky, hope to see Chris Thile somewhere…. my first trip to the Blue Ridge Mountain area…..feeling very fortunate indeed to have this opportunity!!!
