Front Porch

Front Porch

Front Porch will be performing live to air on Southern Style next Tuesday 17th July.

Jan once referred to Front Porch as “that juggy bluegrass band with the trombone” and they’ve picked up that description.

Classically trained Maxine Sutcliffe (viola) and Stephen Lebsanft (trombone) moved from orchestral bands in Toowoomba QLD to Melbourne to enhance their exposure and performance opportunities in diverse music styles – in particular they liked this strange music known as bluegrass.

Serial jammers, Rob Goodge (founder of 80s band “I’m Talking” with Kate Ceberano), Steve Bird and Pete Folino (both of numerous cover rock bands) met at a backyard jam in Melbourne’s suburbs and discovered they shared a common interest in classic 40-50s Bluegrass, 20-30s Western Swing, old-time ragtime and jug music.

During mid-2017 the five came together to form Front Porch They are now found most weekends playing inner-North establishments (Charles Weston, Whole Lotta Love, Edinburgh Castle, Open Studio etc.), inner-south markets (Beaumaris, Sandringham, St Kilda, Oakleigh) and private gigs all over town.
