New Single From DownRiver Collective Come On Back.
DownRiver Collective has announced the release their highly anticipated new single Come On Back. The 2024 IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) Momentum Band Award recipient has spent their time in the studio this past winter working on an outstanding new full length album, expected to release in its entirety later this year.
Come On Back was an easy choice as a first single off of our upcoming record. It highlights everything we want people to think of when they think DownRiver Collective. It feels grounded and experimental, light-hearted yet poignant, and most of all, fun to play and listen to – Bailey Warren, DownRiver Collective.
Joey Black, Programmer and Host of SiriusXM Bluegrass Junction, premiered the new track on April 3rd, with an exclusive band interview. The single was written by band members John Gray, Bailey Warren and Ali Vance and the XM interview offers great insight into the story and emotion behind the stunning composition. Check it out on your SiriusXM app.
A special addition to the track for the band was the collaboration with one of their industry hero’s, Dan Tyminski, who lends his signature vocals on harmony.
The new track features: Ali Vance on lead vocal, Dan Tyminski and John Gray Zahurancik on harmony vocal, Jonny Therrien on guitar, Rico Wallenda on mandolin, John Gray Zahurancik on banjo, Eli Broxham on bass and Bailey Warren on fiddle.
I’m to the point in my career where if a bluegrass song doesn’t remind me why I fell in love with this genre at such a young age, then it missed the mark. This new song from DownRiver Collective makes me feel like I’m hearing this genre for the first time again – Caleb Christopher Edwards, producer.
Come On Back is available today to stream or download from your favorite online music provider. Be sure to follow DownRiver Collective on social media and their website for updates on events and more.
About DownRiver Collective:
DownRiver Collective formed as a three-piece folk group in 2018. Founding members banjo man John Gray and fiddle player Bailey Warren (nominated for 2024 IBMA Momentum Instrumentalist), have since been joined by vocalist Ali Vance (nominated for 2024 IBMA Momentum Vocalist), mandolinist Rico Wallenda and guitarist Jonny Therrien. All of the members are Belmont University alumni and though not everyone comes from a bluegrass background, they all share a deep respect and love for the genre.
DownRiver Collective blurs the lines between traditional folk and progressive acoustic music. The band continually draws on diverse backgrounds to create a fresh sound that at the same time, is familiar. There is a raw, simple truth in their original music that is delivered with such fiery passion, while maintaining a welcome composure that is so comforting. It is truly quite difficult to stop listening.
The band is aggressively booking and looking forward to a busy touring season including some fun stages like FreshGrass, Mohican Bluegrass Festival, Bill Monroe Bluegrass Festival, Wenatchee River Bluegrass Festival and more.
