CluneyTunes FestivalHere is some news on a new festival just outside Melbourne in a town called Clunes. Interestingly the festival is called CluneyTunes and is set for the last weekend in September this year.

CluneyTunes Festival features Americana and Celtic Music and was an idea conceived some years ago set in the historic gold-mining town of Clunes, Victoria, home of the annual Booktown Festival. The town itself is well worth a visit for its historic roots, architecture, museum, many bookshops and great cafes.

CluneyTunes Festival is a brand new, intimate, boutique style festival, offering an action-packed weekend program of world-class concerts, instrumental and other workshops and lots of jam sessions and the opportunity to meet or play a tune with the great line-up of musicians.

Australian artists include the Shane Howard Trio, Pete Denahy, Hardrive Bluegrass Band, Davidson Brothers, Saoirse, Nick Charles, Pete Fidler, Paul Wookey, Peter Daffy Band, Luke Plumb, Patrick Evans – Maton Guitars, Dan Bourke, Stan and Rebecca Gottschalk (Tas), Cat and Clint and more.

The Festival Main stage will feature four major concerts featuring Bluegrass, Blues, Irish, Cowboy Songs, Rockabilly, Old-Time Country.

The second stage will host concert spots, workshops etc.

There will be organised slow jams, instrumental workshops in Irish and American styles of fiddle, guitar, banjo, mandolin, double bass and more, instrument makers.

There is also a great session bar and wine bar on site, excellent local catering on site and in the many cafe and pub options. Great townhouse accommodation on site at Wesley College, within the festival grounds.

The townhouses are modern with four twin bedrooms and two bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen and laundry, dining and lounge area, air-conditioning and heating. BYO sheets, pillow & towels. Wheelchair access downstairs.
