83 year old Charlie Louvin of the famous Louvin Brothers has sadly lost his battle with pancreatic cancer this week after undergoing unsuccessful surgery back in July of 2010.
Charles Elzer Loudermilk, better known to us all as Charlie Louvin began his professional singing career as a teenager with his older brother Ira on local radio in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
The magical harmonies and depth of feeling found on Louvin Brothers recordings of the 50′s and 60′s inspired a new generation of musicians, firmly establishing the Louvins’ stature as one of the most influential duos in country music history. The Louvin Brothers, Charlie and Ira became Grand Ole Opry members in 1955 and were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001.
