Showcasing Casey Freeland and the Atta Boys

Laurie Grundy from Victoria has sent through some information on Casey Freeland which he has asked me to share on AustralianBluegrass.com.

Casey started performing with her family at the age of 8 years old and was playing bass at the age of 11. She played with her family band until she graduated college. She then moved to Nashville meeting and playing with many talented bluegrass artists. Casey has toured internationally and domestically as bass player and vocalist for 6 times IBMA vocalist of the year Dale Ann Bradley’s band. She has also played for and toured with Valeria Smith, Roland White and Chris and Casey Henry. In 2015 Casey Freeland was an IBMA Momentum Award nominee.

After touring Casey Freeland returned to the Missouri Ozarks and started her own band now called Casey and The Atta Boys. Along with Casey, the band’s leader, the band comprises fiddler Andrew Moreton a SPBGMA fiddle player of the year nominee and also Justin George a talented contest winning banjo player with superb guitarist and vocalist Kelly Freeland and Becca Sein on mandolin. The band has a hard driving traditional approach to old and new repertoires. And has great stage personality and stage craft.

Casey and the Atta Boys are celebrating 10 years as a band in 2023. Their roots run deep in traditional bluegrass and they like to put their own sound to those songs. They are a talented group of 5 musicians, showcasing their writing skills as well as their playing abilities. Their show is full of energy and has something for everyone.

Casey and the Atta Boys are a busy hard working performers and have stamped for themselves a huge imprint on the current US bluegrass music scene and have recorded two albums and with one currently in the pipeline that will be launched early 2024.

Casey and the Atta Boys can be found on all streaming platforms etc Facebook, Instagram, Spotify and YouTube.

I have been aware for many years of the instinctive talent and musical capability of Casey Freeland who hails from the remarkable depth of bluegrass music culture in the state of Missouri, a state that has given the bluegrass music world so many well known artists including the Dillards, Rhonda & Darrin Vincent, Mitch Jayne, Gene Goforth, Aaron McDaris, Lonnie Hoppers to name just a few.

I have been recommending actively to the executive of ABOTMA that the Missouri bluegrass group “Casey & the Atta Boys” be the US act for 2024 Mountaingrass Festival to be held the 3rd weekend of November.
