Canyon – American Alt Country Meets Folk and West Coast Harmony
Canyon is an acoustic, folk, harmony band performing acoustic interpretations of songs from the ‘Laurel Canyon – Westcoast’ tradition of the 60’s and 70’s (eg Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Joni Mitchell, Linda Ronstadt etc), as well as originals inspired by this tradition.
Formed in 2015 by singer, songwriter and guitarist Peter Chapman, Canyon features Louise Dempsey (Paul’s sister), with Josh Bennett (Mustered Courage, The Bombay Royale) and Bruce Packard (Coolgrass, Concordia Mandolin Orchestra).
Canyon has performed at Melbourne venues the Flying Saucer Club, Caravan Music Club, Ariettes Concert Lounge, the Satellite Lounge and Memo Music Hall. They have recently returned from a WA trip where they were headliners at the Newman Outback Fusion Festival. They have also played many other shows and festival events.
