The Bushfire Band – Dave Luxmoore, Tracey & Rob Davis and Phil Eizenberg – came a close second place to Craig Morrison’s Little Cowboys in the Tooheys New Country Music Challenge Band Search. The challenge was held at the Family Hotel on 19th January, as part of the the annual Tamworth Country Music Festival.
Bushfire was selected as one of the final six bands who came from all over Australia. Tracey sang her original songs to the judges, (co-written with Dave Luxmoore) from Bushfire’s latest CD, It’s Hot. Rob, Dave & Phil topped the set off with catchy bluegrass songs.
Tracey said Bushfire is very proud to receive the runner up prize of $500 from Tooheys, an EV microphone package and promotional support packages from The Country Music Bulletin and Musicians Headquarters. All four members of BUSHFIRE have been performing most of their lives and look forward to many more years doing what they love to do.
BUSHFIRE Band was a daily busking feature outside the Regent Theatre from the 19th to the 25th Jan. All agree it was a rewarding experience meeting lots of new people. The band also played at the Peoples Choice Awards, Andrew Clermont’s Supper Club, Main Stage Peel St, a spot with Simply Bushed and had lots of fun jamming with many musicians who dropped in and payed while busking.
Watch out for Bushfire’s current first single It’s Hot on the Country Music Channel, which you can go on line and request everyday.
