Burn Down The Fields is one of those songs that reminds you sometimes the healthiest thing you can do is let the old burn away so something better has room to grow. That’s a message that really resonated with me. Recording it was especially meaningful because it gave us the chance to collaborate with an incredible young artist, Haven Slay.
I first met Haven back in 2018 when we played a series of showcases together, and even then it was obvious she had something special. Her talent was undeniable, but what impressed me just as much was her positive spirit, professionalism, and genuine love for music. Watching her continue to grow into the artist she is today has been a real joy – Steve Wilson.

Wilson Banjo Co. was founded by Steve Wilson, whose career has brought together his work as a musician, banjo builder, recording engineer and producer. After beginning his career in Nashville at the Gibson Custom Art Shop, Wilson returned to Upstate New York before eventually settling in South Carolina, where he established himself as a respected luthier known for his custom Wilson banjos. He launched Wilson Banjo Co. in 2014 and has earned national radio play and significant chart success along the way.
The new album continues the band’s tradition of bringing together an evolving cast of musicians and collaborators while allowing the songs to guide the sound. It will also include the album’s lead single, Heaven Is Your Hometown, which spent 19 total weeks in the Top Ten of the Roots Music Report Contemporary Bluegrass Song Chart. The band is also currently at No. 1 on the Roots Music Report Song Chart with the 2025 anthem If You Don’t Climb The Mountain, a testament to the song’s continued impact.

There’s never been a specific theme or sound bucket in mind for the band or our projects, I wouldn’t want to pigeonhole our creativity in that way. We are just really all about the song. When we hear something we like and think we would be good at making it special, we just go for it, and when it’s finished, we hope others will like it too – Steve Wilson.
