My-T-FineSydney Bluegrass, Annandale – 4 July 2009

Rod Jones from Bluegrass and Traditional Country Music Society has advised us that the next get-together in Sydney is scheduled for this Saturday at the Annandale Neighbourhood Centre at 79 Johnstone St, Annandale. Thanks Rod.

Hard to believe it’s nearly July, but my calendar tells me it definitely is. So we’ll all be at  Annandale  for the monthly get-together. Geoff Kiem hosts the Safety In Numbers session from 6:30pm (downstairs room on the left) and then the open mic concert starts from 8pm (back hall downstairs). $7 non-members and $5 members. Heaters in the hall. All welcome Rod Jones BTCMSA.

One of the aims of the BTCMSA is to encourage people to form bands  and work on their performance of bluegrass and old time music. Preference is given to bands and individuals, duos, etc. who play bluegrass or old time or traditional country music.

Times are allocated to:

  • Bands of up to 20  mins (depending on time available during the night)
  • Individuals, duos, etc of up to 15 minutes
  • New performers – 2 numbers
  • Related music – 2  numbers (depending on time available). You may do less if you want.

Enquiries – phone Rod Jones on  (02) 9456 1090.

    Hi Don,

The contact details may be for Rod Jones who’s been overseas for the last month. Check out http://www.bluegrass.org.au for more details on the bluegrass societies round the country – this is what the membership bit refers to.

    Hi Jamie,

I play guitar and piano, which in bluegrass could easily convert to an acordian. could also bang out some basic banjo, and of course, love to sing (barritone)

It’s been a few years since I attended any bluegrass music . I have been trying to contact someone at Harrietville convention in November , too no avail left emails left phone messages contacted Melbourne Info who put me in touch with Harrietville Council then they gave me a number to ring we will get back to you 1 1/2 weeks ago still nothing .
On the form to order tickets it has member /concessions ( what is concessions ,senior cards or a pension only from Centre link) this is all I require before sending my application in , also what is the membership worth ,I was in it but through work committments couldn’t do it .

    Hi ,

Am looking to get involved with a blue grass band and or find bluegrass musicians who want to have fun playing perpahs one night a week. Nothing formal or professional just for the love of music. I live in BOndi.

    cheers,

    Andrew
