Bonfire Recording Company has signed Kentucky based bluegrass band, Turning Ground. Today (June 15th) also marks the release of Old Country Store their first label single. The single is the title track from their upcoming Bonfire album to be released later this Summer. Bonfire is a subsidiary of Pinecastle Records in Piedmont, South Carolina, and home of Bonfire Recording Studio.

Turning Ground’s upcoming album Old Country Store features a great mix of original songs written by Nathan Arnett, lead vocalist and songwriter for the band, as well as fan favourites. The band recorded the album at Hilltop Line Studio in Kentucky and mixing and mastering was done at Bonfire Studios.

Ethan Burkhardt, CEO of the Pinecastle/Bonfire conglomerate, first saw and was impressed by Turning Ground during a live showcase performance at SPBGMA in Nashville this past February. “We at Bonfire are excited for the prospects of this talented band,” said Burkhardt. “Turning Ground is already a festival favourite and we can’t wait to get this killer project out to the whole bluegrass community.”

The first single, Old Country Store, written by Nathan Arnett is available now from Bandcamp, popular online distributors and radio programmers can download it from AirPlay Direct. Here’s a video that Arnett filmed during a recent trip to visit his new label home in South Carolina.

Turning Ground will be holding their official CD Release party at the SamJam Bluegrass Festival in Piketon, Ohio, on Labor Day Weekend, where their band has become somewhat of a staple to the audience.

Turning Ground is going to make noise in the music industry. Nathan Arnett is a strong and unique front man who writes a lot of the band’s music. Mix that with the bands’ high energy and stellar harmonies, you have something special. A must see on the bluegrass circuit – Sam Karr, SamJam Promotions.

With roots that run deep through the Appalachian Mountains of Eastern Kentucky, Turning Ground’s style of bluegrass and bluegrass gospel is original and built around five people that share a love for the music. They borrow from the traditional sounds of yesterday and blend it with the contemporary sounds of today’s bluegrass to deliver that unique, solid drive to their music. Turning Ground is one of the most talented, energetic young bands to surface on to the bluegrass scene in years. Band personnel includes Nathan Arnett, guitar/lead vocals, Ralph Adams, rhythm guitar/harmony vocals, Kayla Amburgey, bass/harmony vocals, Josh Cantell, banjo/harmony vocals, and Logan Coslow, mandolin.

Updated information on the band’s summer activities can be found on their website.
