Wayne Bledsoe publisher of BluegrassNow magazine has announced the magazine’s closure, citing the December edition as its last. The music industry has taken a beating from the current economic climate and rather than compromise the magazine’s integrity and quality, Bledsoe has decided to end the publication.
BluegrassNow.com was first published in December 1990 with the intention of providing bluegrass fans and the industry with a magazine that reflected the same level of professionalism that was driving bluegrass music to new found of popularity.
BluegrassNow ceased producing a hard copy of the magazine in May this year and that decision was partly driven by the growing cost of paper and postage. Instead, the magazine publishers relied on the redesign of their web site BluegrassNow.com as a multimedia experience to replace the more traditional print media.
