Bluegrass @ the Grammys

Alison Krauss and Robert Plant certainly cleaned up in five categories, at this years 51st Grammy Awards night. However, there were a few other Bluegrass artists who also did us all proud.

Bela Fleck and his band, The Flecktones, picked up a Grammy for the Best Pop Instrumental Album for their Christmas CD, Jingle All The Way. Fleck has won Grammys® in more categories than any other recording artist.

Long time Bluegrasser Ricky Skaggs of Kentucky Thunder picked up his fifth Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album with his Honoring the Fathers of Bluegrass album. This album pays tribute to Bill Monroe and his Bluegrass boys of the 1940’s, an era marked by the inclusion of Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs to the band giving Monroe the sound he had been searching for.
