What happens if you’re not into football in Victoria in September? Di Burgman and her Jigarre Jammers hosted a jam session in downtown Girgarre as an alternative offer. Di writes:
Girgarre’s Jigarre Jammin’ competed admirably with the A.F.L. Grand Final last Saturday. Whilst normally boasting 50+ players, we were thrilled to see 36 walk through the doors to try jamming all day. As usual we had a few new beginners so workshops ran as normal for them whilst some others had their first experience joining in a bigger group of jammers. Some found it a little confronting, others proved to be handy leaders in that area.
We were then treated to a few numbers from guest singer Hillary backed by Steve, one of our team, a most entertaining time. Steve is now offering private lessons for those wishing to better themselves on guitar in their own time. We are blown away by the support of our Melbourne friends.
On 27th November, Pete Gavin is joining us, giving a workshop on improving your guitar technique. Then of course the rush of Christmas commences and preparation for the haloed Moosic Muster in Jan – Di Burgman.
In other news, the Fig Jammers are preparing to offer a jam session Jamming for Groovy Seniors in Echuca on 9th October, from 1:30-4:00pm at the Echuca Function Rooms at the Campaspe Shire Building. If you are interested could call Gwen on 54824932, or Di 54841183. Some instruments will be available for loan on the day.
