Here’s further news on the 2011 National Festival.
Not only will Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band appearing at this year’s National Festival but, also appearing are Bruce Molsky, Joe Newberry, Mike Compton, Rafe Stefini – America’s finest Old Time musicians.
Rafe Stefanini was originally born in Italy has but his love of Old Time music brought him to the USA as a visitor in the late 1970’s and then as a permanent resident in 1983. Rafe has established himself as one of the foremost interpreters of fiddle music from the South. His dynamic and elegant fiddle and banjo playing was featured in some of the best bands to appear on the scene.
Bruce Molsky is highly sought-after as a fiddle and banjo teacher, and teaches his own intensive instrument workshop all over the USA. He is a regular instructor at Mark O’Connor Fiddle Camp, Rocky Mountain Fiddle Camp, Alasdair Fraser’s Valley of the Moon and Sierra Fiddle Camps, Swannanoa Gathering, and others.
Joe Newberry has played music most of his life. His powerful and innovative banjo playing has won contests around the USA, including first-place at the Appalachian String Band Music Festival. Joe is also a prizewinning guitarist, fiddler, and singer as well.
