Penned by band member Don Rigsby, the heartfelt original is the group’s second release and follows their chart-topping debut in 2025. With its driving bluegrass energy and deeply personal story, the track offers listeners a joyful and moving tribute to a life well lived.
I wrote this song as a tribute to my dear father Bill Rigsby. Portraying a genuine good soul with rural country ethics, he loved everybody,” says Don Rigsby. “This is the embodiment of his hard-working, neighborly, loving character. Bill From Isonville captures the spirit of small-town Appalachia through vivid storytelling and a lively, hard-driving melody. With lyrics that paint a portrait of a humble man known for kindness, faith and an honest day’s work, the song celebrates the values passed down through generations. Written by Don Rigsby, the track is a heartfelt reminder of the people and traditions that shape who we are. It arrives as the follow-up to Southern Legacy’s debut single, The Hills of Carter County, which soared to No. 1 on the Bluegrass Today Weekly Airplay Chart, marking the band’s first chart-topping single since forming.
Southern Legacy brings together five of the most respected voices in bluegrass: Josh Williams, Don Rigsby, Ron Block, Steve Thomas, and Mike Anglin. Each member has built an acclaimed career in the genre, earning Grammy recognition, IBMA honours, and decades of respect as instrumentalists, vocalists, songwriters and producers. Together, the group boasts more than 200 years of combined experience in bluegrass music. Formed out of longstanding friendships and a shared love for the roots of the genre, the band is currently in the studio recording their highly anticipated full-length debut album, continuing to build on the momentum of their early success.

Josh Williams – Three-time IBMA Guitar Player of the Year, 17-time SPBGMA winner, and former member of Rhonda Vincent & The Rage with multiple acclaimed solo albums to his name.
Don Rigsby – Renowned vocalist and instrumentalist who has worked with Ralph Stanley, J.D. Crowe, The Lonesome River Band, and more, earning his place as one of Bluegrass music’s elite voices.
Ron Block – Multiple Grammy Award-winning musician best known for his work with Alison Krauss & Union Station, and a respected songwriter with cuts by Randy Travis, Rhonda Vincent and more.
Steve Thomas – A multi-instrumental Nashville session ace who has worked with The Osborne Brothers, Kenny Chesney, The Whites and co-fronted the chart-topping group Steve Thomas & The Time Machine.
Mike Anglin – A veteran bassist and harmony vocalist with nearly 50 albums to his credit, having performed with Bluegrass greats including Bill Monroe, Tony Rice and The Del McCoury Band.
