Beth Stevens & Edge release their first album, Strong Enough, on Pinecastle.
IBMA Producer and banjo player of the year, Scott Vestal produced the new album. Band members include Beth’s father, Douglas Stevens, who sings lead and harmony vocals and plays guitar. Gary Laws contributes on bass and vocals, Greg Hodge plays mandolin and fiddle and, when his schedule permits, Matt Leadbetter plays dobro with the group.
Special guest appearances on Strong Enough include Jesse Cobb, Shelton Feazell, Steve Thomas, Steve Gulley, Scott Vestal and, IBMA vocalist of the year, Dale Ann Bradley. The album contains songs that cut across bluegrass, blues, country and gospel, eight of which are original tunes.
Beth Stevens is well known from her former partnership with her sister April, as the Stevens Sisters. The Stevens Sisters opened shows for artists such as Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard. Beth Stevens additionally contributed to The Stevens Family Band through the years.
Beth Stevens has performed on the Grand Ole Opry, CMT and PBS television many times and has toured with the likes of Merle Haggard, Brad Paisley, John Anderson, Ralph Stanley, Bill Monroe, Waylon Jennings, Gene Watson and many others. She has been featured in Bluegrass Unlimited, Smithsonian Magazine, Country Weekly, Rolling Stone and Bluegrass Now Magazine.
