Beginners’ Jam in Yinnar

In an effort to ‘refill the well from which we drink’, The Strzelecki Stringbusters have recently commenced a monthly beginners Bluegrass / Oldtime session at the Yinnar Hotel.

The most recent gathering saw 40 pickers attending, with a good mix of fiddles, banjo’s, mandolins, guitars and even 3 ukes and a Dobro, all enjoying each others company. Members of the Stringbusters led instrument groups through You Are my Sunshine initially, before bringing all pickers together in a big circle to put the tune together.

Though format is still developing, the aim is to learn a new tune each month, with a grand performance at the end of the year being the ultimate goal. For many first timers this would be a daunting thought, however, with the strength of numbers and an encouraging and friendly environment, taking that big step will be made all the easier.

The Stringbusters would love to see anyone interested in getting started on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at the Yinnar Hotel. The session starts at 7:00pm and is free of charge.
