Rounder Records has advised us that its artists have received 8 nominations for the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards. The awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, 13th February, 2011, at Staples Center in Los Angeles and will be broadcast live on CBS from 8:00pm – 11:30 PM EST.
Rock legend Robert Plant received two nominations for his album Band of Joy. The album picked up a nod for Best Americana Album and the song Silver Rider was nominated for Best Solo Rock Performance. Also nominated for Best Americana Album is Willie Nelson’s Country Music, which The New York Times called a robust album that flaunts Mr. Nelson’s versatility.
Receiving their first ever Grammy nomination, bluegrass powerhouse Dailey & Vincent snagged one in the Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals category for Elizabeth from their album Dailey & Vincent Sing the Statler Brothers. Joining them in this category are The SteelDrivers, with a nomination for Where Rainbows Never Die from their album Reckless which was also nominated for Best Bluegrass Album.
People magazine had said that on Mary Chapin Carpenter’s The Age of Miracles, “the singer-songwriter lives up to her Grammy pedigree on this first-rate set of country-folk tunes”, and The Age of Miracles picked up a nomination for Best Contemporary Folk Album.
In contention for Best Long Form Music Video is the unexpected critical hit‚ (Rolling Stone) Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage, which has been airing on VH1 Roc Docs. The next airings will be Wednesday, December 8 1:00 AM ET/PT and Wednesday, December 15 at 8:30 PM ET/PT.
