Maybelle Carter’s 1928 Gibson L-5

Here’s an interesting story posted to us from the Gibson Lifestyle website. Some time ago I subscribed to the Gibson Lifestyles website, hoping to gain some first hand knowledge of news and announcements from Gibson Musical Instruments.

It has been a fairly fruitless subscription until now with most every article focusing on instruments or amplifiers designed to destroy young people’s hearing. However, this story surfaced last week in relation to a guitar belonging to the legendary Maybelle Carter, the Gibson L-5 guitar.

The 1928, Gibson L-5 that originally belonged to Maybelle Carter was purchased in August of 2004 from Gruhn Guitars of Nashville, Tennessee for justĀ  $575,000, on behalf of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
