2026 Dorrigo Bluegrass Festival Update
Dorrigo Bluegrass Festival is shaping up to be another beauty, with its 24th festival bringing together an impressive line-up of Australia’s finest young and established bluegrass bands, along with some incredible players from overseas.
For those who love bluegrass, it promises to be a weekend filled with outstanding musicianship, great performances and plenty of opportunities to experience the unique energy that comes when talented players come together in one place.
There is sure to be plenty of chances to see these musicians in concert, but the festival is also about sharing knowledge, stories and experiences. A full program of workshops throughout the weekend gives festival-goers the opportunity to learn from some of the best players around and perhaps pick up a few new skills along the way.
This year’s pre-festival workshops will feature two streams: the Old-Time Music School and the Dorrigo Beginners Bootcamp. With an amazing collection of tutors involved, these workshops are a wonderful way to get your festival experience underway. More information below.
The festival also has a wonderful line-up from the folk world, with inspiring instrumentalists, talented songwriters and performers of the highest calibre. Dorrigo has built a reputation for bringing together a wonderful mix of musical styles and influences, creating those magical moments that are so often the highlight of a festival weekend.
Families are also very much at the heart of the Dorrigo experience. Recognised as a family-friendly festival, there is a dedicated kids’ area and program, while young musicians have the opportunity to step up onto the Blackboard Stage and share their talents with festival audiences.
With camping available on site, along with great food and creative stalls, the festival creates a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere where it is easy to become part of the action. There will be plenty of opportunities to join an impromptu session, sing with the festival choir or have a go with the beginners’ bluegrass group.
And whatever the weather, you can enjoy the program, with all festival venues offering weather-friendly options. At the same time, Dorrigo remains small enough to be easily accessible, with friendly volunteers on hand to help ensure everyone has a memorable festival experience.
There will be a called dance each day for everyone to enjoy, along with a packed program of concerts and workshops across the weekend.
Whether you are a lifelong bluegrass fan, an enthusiastic musician, a folk lover, a beginner or simply looking for a wonderful weekend of music and community, the 24th Dorrigo Bluegrass Festival promises plenty to enjoy.
Come for the music, stay for the atmosphere – and be prepared to discover something special in Dorrigo.
Please tell your friends and see you there on 23rd to 25th October 2026.
