Great Alpine Pick

Here is some news from the Mountain Pickers’ Association.

The Great Alpine Pick (GAP) is going ahead at Harrietville on the 26th – 28th February this year. In addition the group’s Club Nights (last Tuesday of the month) are starting again on the 30th March at Ferntree Gully Bowls Club.

The Great Alpine Pick

The Kissin’ Cousins

This year’s Great Alpine Pick will celebrate its 10th anniversary. Certainly bluegrass musicians and aficionados in Victoria have endured greater isolation and limited movement than most of the remainder of the nation. This year’s GAP will see not just a celebration of the10th anniversary but of the final shedding of those restrictions that have played havoc with artists and their audiences through 2020. We live in hope, that the worst of this pandemic is now behind us.

Some of the artists appearing at this year’s 10th convention are:

Canyon, Pete Denehy, The Kissin’ Cousins, Strzelecki Stringbusters and The Spokeshave Mountaineers.

All those new tunes and skills learned and honed to within an inch of their life will again have an outlet.
Like everything, playing with yourself is ok but it’s always better with someone else. It will be worth going to Harrrietville just to see the smiling faces of everyone actually being able to play together again, what could be better. It’s the 10th Great Alpine Pick; It’s a celebration of musical life starting again; so let’s all go to Harrretville and celebrate together. I Look forward to seeing you all there – Andrew Barcham, Mountain Pickers Assoc.
