Bluegrass Junction

Wirrina Bluegrass Festival to Proceed.

With festival cancellations continuing around the country and beyond, it is great news to hear on one event the Wirrina Bluegrass and Acoustic Roots Festival is forging on in South Australia on 27th to 29th November this year.

All activities for the festival are scheduled on site at the Wirrina Cove Holiday Park.

What’s the buzz? Here’s the latest on the festival:

Tickets and Camping

Tickets are available online now – this year it is online bookings only and for the first time, numbers are limited. It is recommended that you book in soon. If you don’t usually book online and have any questions, please wi**************@gm***.com">email organisers. Or you can text 0428 263 795.

This year’s ticket includes an unpowered camping spot, so if you intend unpowered camping, all you need to do is book through this link.

A powered site this year is only $10 per night – please book your festival ticket first and then email the caravan park to reserve a powered site. There are plenty of them, so if you want access to power, do it.

This year, tickets are free for all under-18s. Still need to book, though.

November is South Australia is a perfect time of year for if you want to bring your family, or your music students.

Nice Verdes to play Wirrina

Nice Verdes

BYO outdoor chairs this year if you can. We are setting up seating a bit differently this year at the main stage, and will have some spots in front of the stage for picnic rugs/low chairs, some spots for your own chairs and then supplied seating back under the veranda. So if you can bring your own chair, you are welcome to use it in the forward seating area (or anywhere around the place).

We’ll have seating available in session spaces but we encourage you to spread out and use any available space, so bring your chairs and anything you need for that. Remember, the park is big!

Venus Changes:

The Blackboard tent will run this year on Saturday and Sunday (as usual), but will be in a different location – between the main stage (which is now close to the Kiosk) and the shearing shed. The aim is to make it easier to move between all of the venues and the workshops.

Wirrina Cove Holiday Park owners have advised that some of the improvements and maintenance on the toilet block will be done by festival time.

The festival will have merchandise on sale this year with something different from Liz from Flat Cat Tshirts in Horsham. They will have a selection of items including drink bottles, caps, stickers and a few other bits and pieces. There are still a few mugs and wine glasses from previous years for your selection.

Workshops and Other Activities:

There is a range of workshops this year. So this is the last call for if you have a workshop (or any other activity) you’d like to offer, or if you’d like to ask for or suggest a particular activity over the weekend. What would help you or others develop as a musician? And, what would enhance the weekend (that you think is achievable)? Please email organisers.
