About the Festival:
Nashville-raised local and festival organiser Fletcher Potanin, inspired by the compelling musicianship of the grass-roots collective the Northern Rivers Songwriter Sessions, saw both the need and desire to create greater accessibility to audiences and musicians. The festival is a collaboration with festival artistic director, Ash Bell of the Starboard Canons.
I feel the sustainability of the creative wealth that’s become synonymous with our region is worth preserving – Fletcher Potanin.
Staffed entirely by volunteers, this event is purely for charity. With the support of the local community, all funds support local Arts & Cultural Initiatives in the Northern Rivers such as: Arts in Local Schools, Original Music Artists Bursaries, and the Bangalow Theatre Company. We’re hoping to do this or better for our community this year.
Over the past three years, the Festival has donated funds directly to local schools to support their Arts Departments, including: Bangalow Public School, Newrybar Public School, Coorabell Public School, Byron Community Primary School, Eureka Public School, Bangalow Community Children’s Centre. Other local recipients have been: Bangalow Boys Scouts, 3 x Original Artists Bursaries, start-up support for the Bangalow Theatre Company, additional donations to the Bangalow A&I Hall and the Showgrounds Parks Trust, as well as the Bangalow Heritage House and Museum.
