by | 27 Feb, 2020

BackRoads Events will present the 1st Annual Sól Grass Music Festival.

The two day bluegrass festival will be held from 19th to 20th June, 2020 at the Washington Island Campground 745 East Side Road, Washington Island, WI.

Washington Island is the perfect place for festival goers to enjoy a taste of nature and to take part in an authentic music experience. The island is just a short and beautiful ferry ride off the tip of the Door County Peninsula.

Like most festivals, this weekend will be a time to relax and reconnect with friends and family, make new friends, explore the island, look at the stars, pick a new tune, and of course enjoy some amazing bluegrass music. When festival goers are not listening to music they can enjoy all the island has to offer. The festival’s partner, Island Adventure Company, offers recreational rentals such as kayaks and stand up paddle boards to enjoy the surrounding waters and electric bikes and UTV’s to explore more than 100 miles of wide open roads.

Festival line-up:

For the inaugural year, organisers have put together a stellar line-up of some of Wisconsin’s most popular classic and progressive bluegrass bands. They include: Them Coulee Boys, Chicken Wire Empire, Armchair Boogie, Sortin’ the Mail and a Door County favorite, The Cherry Pickers. Other featured bands include: Chain Station, Canyon Collected, The Pickin Pear, all from Colorado, and the Humbird Trio from Minneapolis.

Music starts at 4:00 pm Friday night and ends at 10:30 pm. Saturday’s music kicks off at 3:00 pm and ends at 10:30 pm. However, the evening does not end there. Festival goers are encouraged to bring their instruments and enjoy spontaneous jams with fellow campers and band members. Even if you do not play an instrument, you will enjoy the late night music scene.
