MillthorpeAcoustic Sundays in Millthorpe, NSW

Millthorpe is a small village between Orange and Bathurst, in central west New South Wales about 250km from Sydney. It’s known for its historic houses and main street, cool climate gardens, and increasingly for fine food and the arts – the sort of place where you can’t go ten paces without falling over an artist, musician or restaurateur.

Acoustic Sunday features (mostly) local musicians, playing (mostly) acoustic music in the cozy surroundings of Millthorpe’s Old Mill Café on the first Sunday of each month, from 3pm. Acoustic Sunday is an opportunity for performers to showcase a couple of sets, rather than a free jam session or open mike, though we are open to possibilities.

Acoustic Sunday in this context reflects volume, rather than a style of music or equipment used to produce it, and broadly includes folk, blues, jazz, roots, Americana, even rock – and of course Bluegrass.

The first two Sundays this August – 2nd and 9th – will part of Frost Fest, Orange’s festival of music and arts.

2nd August: will feature The BluesTones, a collection of local legends – acoustic guitars, mandolin, acoustic bass, and percussion;
9th August: brings bluegrass music back to Millthorpe, with Mick Moffitt and Cate McCarthy – Fat Wombat and Jon Wilby, Genni Kane and Peter Gallen.
