As I understand it, the Yarra Junction Fiddler’s Festival is 1st to 3rd April 2011 (as per the heading on this page).
However, in one of your emails above, you’ve got 30 Apr to 5 May, which was around the date for 2010.
On re-reading this, the email was from Jan 2010, so maybe it needs to be deleted as it could cause confusion.

Can you confirm the date for the 2010 Fiddler’s Convention? Ken told me last year it was to be in May, and the article says Feb. I need to know so that I can organise the friday off and am not keen on the Feb date due to the fire hazard.

Yes, there were a few fiddle players there and a fiddle workshop run by Gerry Hale. However, the fiddle workshop was at the same time as Martin Louis’ banjo workshop. So, being a banjo player, I missed the opportunity to record the event. You raise an important point though, I should engage someone else to take photos when I am otherwise occupied.

Where are the fiddles? Lots of guitars and banjos. Is this a fiddle festival or a banjo festival? Do you think it is time to ban other instruments from a fiddle convention? Poor old fiddles are getting swamped by pickers and plunkers.
